How to sell your horse

Sellers Guide

How do I sell my horse?

Its easy to sell either a horse, nomination (season) or syndicate share in either a stallion or a racing partnership. All you have to do is click on the ‘sell’ buttons on the lower right hand side of the Re-offer.com home page and carefully follow the step by step instructions. If you need help at any point you can email the Re-offer.com Helpdesk at helpdesk@re-offer.com or telephone the team on 011 44 1525 864061. When listing your horses, nominations and/or shares you will be encouraged to upload pictures and video footage where appropriate. This helps prospective buyers assess your offering before possibly committing to veterinary examinations etc. You can also:

  • Automatically upload the pedigree of your horse
  • List the names of any bloodstock agents who have inspected your horse
  • Notify potential buyers of the availability of any X-rays for your horse
  • Advise potential buyers of any veterinary reports available to them
  • Notify potential buyers of the names of an vets who have recently seen and/or scoped the horse
  • Offer potential buyers who may be overseas the opportunity to have your horse inspected by a leading independent bloodstock agent

If you are selling a horse which recently failed to sell at public auction it is important to list your horse with Re-Offer.com as quickly as you can after it was unsold in the sales ring since this will allow potential buyers more time to physically inspect the animal before he leaves the sales complex itself. Buyers will find it much easier to inspect the horse whilst it is still on site. In addition, you (or we can arrange this for you) can upload pictures and video’s (taken at a conventional sale) of the horse to your on-line auction listing. When following each selling step you will be shown simple details and criteria to which all uploaded images must conform. Please follow these guidelines – they have been designed to help you successfully sell.

Can I set a Reserve price?

Just like a conventional auction you can set a reserve price. The level of that reserve is nominated by you when completing the selling steps. Once we have details of your reserve price Re-Offer.com will automatically submit bids on your behalf up to the value of the reserve. In addition, you will be able to bid on your own horse at any point which allows you to protect its value. However, all commissions are payable based on the higher of either your reserve price or the final bid even if that final bid was your own.

What is the minimum value at which I can set my reserve price?

On Re-Offer.com the minimum selling price is £1,500 or $3,000. The site is fully multicurrency which allows you to sell and bid in any major currency.

What are the Costs?

You can sell either via and auction or by placing a classified advertisement. The price of a classified advertisement is £85 for a month or $595 for a years listing. If you prefer, you can place your advertisement for a year at a cots of £***** or $*******. If selling via auction you will be able to list free but you will pay a sellers commission of 2.5% on any successful. If you sell via a classified advertisement you pay no commission but you did pay the advertising charge. Choose the best selling model to suit your needs and budget.

Do buyers have to pay any commission?

All buyers pay a buyers premium of 3.5% calculated on the final sale price.

How do I get paid?

You will be paid within 30 days of your auction ending. If you sell via a classified advertisement you negotiate your own terms directly with your buyer.
